How It Connected by A Simple Annoyance

INT. SUITE AT AN UNIVERSITY – NIGHT

The new kid walks into his room very tired and sweaty. He then places his luggage down. He sits on his new blue mattress bed and pulls out his laptop. He tries to connect to the internet.

NEW KID (V.O.)

(smiling and filled with content while breathing slightly fast)

The internet is not working…I thought I had the connections done before heading here. Crap! I have no internet which means there is no way I can connect. I have to connect to let Amy know I arrived safely, otherwise, she is going to freak out.

New Kid then remembers that he had a quick glance at his new suite mate’s room and saw him playing World of Warcraft meaning. This means that he had some method of connecting to the internet. He approaches the new suite mate’s room and knocks on the door.

SUITE MATE

(pauses the game and walks toward NEW KID with annoyance in his face)

Yeah?

NEW KID

(speaks with embarrassing voice)

Sorry to bother you. My internet isn’t working at all. You think I can use your computer to activate my internet access? I thought I did it at home, but apparently it isn’t working.

SUITE MATE

Yeah. Just let me switch it to desktop.

Both approaches to the SUITE MATE’s computer. NEW KID begins to surf the internet and continues his way to activate the internet.

NEW KID

(smiles)

Thanks a lot. Sorry to bother you.

SUITE MATE

No problem.

SUITE MATE goes back playing World of Warcraft and NEW KID returns to his room. He tries to access the internet in his laptop and fails again.

NEW KID

(frustrated, in low voice)

OMG! Are you serious?

NEW KID now has to ask SUITE MATE again for his computer again. He waits about five minutes before deciding to ask SUITE MATE to use his computer.

NEW KID (V.O.)

(discontent)

Ah crap! He is going to be annoyed with me. Way to go to start off our relationship.

NEW KID heads back to SUITE MATE’s room and knocks. SUITE MATE pauses his game and gets up from his chair.

SUITE MATE

(sighing)

SUITE MATE walks toward NEW KID.

SUITE MATE

(changes his facial expression to normal)
Yeah?

NEW KID

Sorry to bother you again. It is not working at all. You think you can help me with the internet access?

SUITE MATE

(looks optimistic)

Yeah, sure. I’ll give it a try.

Both walk to NEW KID’S room. SUITE MATE attempts to get the internet access but fails.

SUITE MATE

(sympathetically)

Sorry. I’m not sure how to do it either. You can wait until tomorrow and ask people at campus on how to get the internet access.

NEW KID

(disappointed)

Ahh! It’s okay. Thanks though. Sorry to bother you.

Both walk out of NEW KID’S room.

NEW KID

You playing WOW?

SUITE MATE

Yeah.

SUITE MATE heads back to his room and continues playing World of Warcraft. NEW KID heads back into his room and somehow manages to get the internet access.

NEW KID

(screams in a low voice)

Ohh! There it is!

And two weeks later, NEW KID and SUITE MATE play video games and eat meals together with the rest of the suite mates.
